Can I move a hard drive from an older machine?

I froze a power supply on an Imac EMC 2105 in a North Dakota 24 below winter. No can start. Can I move the hard drive from an EMC 2105 to an EMC 2134 and restart? I believe that both were formatted with Snow Leopard. I realize that the drive may be smaller but I don't need the space. We also believe that the drive in EMC 2134 is worn out. It is very slow to respond.

Options

It's an SATA drive and should work just fine. The problem may be if the system has not been upgraded to the minimum the newer machine requires.
