Short Battery Life

Phone’s battery drains fast.

Phone Not Charged

Your phone may have ran out of battery. Plug your phone into its charger. It should power on within a few minutes.

Overcrowded Apps

Too many apps running in the background may cause your phone to lose battery faster than normal. You may need to exit out of any running apps. To do this, press the MENU key, then “Manage apps.” Tap the app that you want to close, and tap “Stop” or “Force Stop.” Confirm that you want to close the app by tapping “OK.”

Outdated Software

Your phone may run out of battery quickly due to old software. You may have to try updating your phone’s software. To update your phone, tap the MENU key. Tap “Software Update,” and then “Check for Updates.” If there is an update available, your phone will automatically install the update. Tap OK when the phone is done updating.

Old Battery

Plug your phone into its charger. If it does not turn on within a few minutes, the phone’s battery may not work anymore. Use this guide to replace the battery here.

Broken Charger or Charging Port

The problem may be from your charger or outlet rather than your phone. Try plugging your charger into a different outlet. If that does not work, use a new charger to charge your device.

Outlet May Be Broken

The wall outlet your charger is plugged into may be broken. Try plugging your charger into a different wall outlet.

Debris/dirt in Charging Port

There may be debris or dirt lodged in the phone’s charging port. Blow air into the charging port to dislodge debris. Do not put any tools into the charging port - you may damage the phone’s internal components.

Screen Doesn’t Respond Properly

Phone’s touchscreen isn’t responding.

Restart the Phone

Your phone may have overheated and needs to be restarted. Locate the power button and hold it down until you get a list of options. Click on “Restart”. Your phone’s screen will go black to indicate that it is turned off. Your phone should power on within a few minutes.

Dirty Screen

The screen may have dirt or other particles on it that is causing the screen to not respond to your touch. Use a clean soft cloth to gently wipe down your screen. If after cleaning the screen it still doesn’t respond to touch, wash your hands and dry them completely. Try using the touchscreen again.

Outdated Software

Your phone’s screen may not be working due to old software. You may need to check and see if your phone needs to be updated. To update your phone, tap the MENU key. Tap “Software Update,” and then “Check for Updates.” If there is an update available, your phone will automatically install the update. Tap OK when the phone is done updating.

Cracked Screen

If your phone has any cracks along the screen, this could be causing the screen to not respond. If that’s the case you may need to replace the screen. Follow this guide to replace the screen.

Dysfunctional Camera

Phone’s camera does not work properly.

Debris or Dust on Camera Lens

If a camera’s lens is covered in dust particles or debris, this could cause the camera to not have a clear image. Try cleaning off the camera with a dampened towel or wet wipe.

Cracked Camera Lens

If the image is coming out faulty, your camera lens may be cracked. To fix you will have to replace the camera. Follow this guide to replace the camera.

SIM Card Error

When the SIM card is on, an error message comes onto the screen.

SIM Card not in Phone Correctly

If a SIM card is not correctly placed into the phone, it causes a reading error. Your SIM card may need to be reinserted into the phone. To do this, remove the back of the phone. Take out the battery. Remove and reinsert SIM card into the card slot.

New SIM Card Needed

If you’ve completed the above steps and there is still an error message, it may be time for you to get a new SIM card. You can order a SIM card for the ZTE Whirl 2 here.

Dirty SIM Card Port

SIM card ports that have something in them may cause the card to be read correctly. Try cleaning out the SIM card port with a small brush or cotton swab.

Distorted or No Audio Coming from Speaker
