Damaged Silver Plate
The middle Silver Plate can act as buffer for the communicator in the event it is dropped. However, it can also become tarnished, scratched, or bent slightly.
Scratched or Bent Silver Plate
If the middle Silver plate located within the Star Trek Bluetooth Communicator becomes damaged, bent or scratched, you can replace it by referring to this guide.
Bluetooth Pairing Fail
Unable to connect your Bluetooth enabled device to the communicator.
Bluetooth is not turned on
Make sure Bluetooth is turned on within settings on your device. In most devices, there is a small Bluetooth icon at the top of the screen indicating that Bluetooth is turned on.
Turn on discoverable mode
Some devices require you to turn discoverable mode on to pair with another Bluetooth device, even if Bluetooth is already turned on. To turn discoverable mode on, press and hold the right Communicator button until the Communicator says, “waiting for Bluetooth connection” , and both the left and right jewels alternately flash green and blue.
Make sure both devices are close enough to each other
The Bluetooth device needs to be no more than 5 meters away from the communicator.
Restart device
A soft reset sometimes can resolve an issue.
Damaged Buttons
If the buttons fail to respond, it could be due to the buttons sticking.
Buttons Are Stuck/Need Replacement
If a button cannot be pressed, there might be dirt, sticky residue, etc. holding it up. They can be cleaned with a compressed air can that you would use for a keyboard or with a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol.
Flimsy cover hinge
The cover flops open easily when being handled. Try to be careful with it so that it does not bend at the hinges or break.
Broken/Damaged Cover Hinge
If the antenna grill/cover gets broken and needs replacement, follow this guide.
Battery is not holding a charge
Battery life decays after prolonged use.
Short Term Battery Life
The battery may fail within the allotted time due to heavy use or unfavorable temperature conditions; however, most batteries last considerably longer than what the stamp indicates. You can replace the battery using this guide.
Audio Distortion
The audio produced by the device is weak and can be hard to hear. Even when the volume is turned all the way up, it is still much quieter than the rest of the voice overs and effects.
Sound Quality Not Clear
Due to the small speaker that is built within the Star Trek Bluetooth Communicator, the antenna grille cover may distort sound and make the sound lower than normal. In addition, make sure that the device is fully charged to get the best sound possible.

My communicator will not charge. The lights are flashing from blue to green to magenta and I cannot get it to come on. I am worried it's malfunctioning.

My communicator stopped recharging and no longer turns on as well. Have you found a fix to this problem?

My communicator will not turn on. It has been untouched for about a month. I tried charging it, but it still won't work.

I left mine alone for two year and it did not charge. I lift it on the charger for a month and it is finally working again. It was totally drained for two years and it took a month to get it fully charged up and now it charges fine. It must of dried out the battery so it took the battery cell a month to juice back up. Please try leaving it on the charger for a month or more and hopefully it will slowly juice up those dry cell in the battery. Good luck

My mic works with everything except during calls. No one can hear me but my phone recognizes the voice dial.
