Sony WH-CH710N Not Charging
The Sony WH-CH710N headphones do not charge when connected to a power source, preventing the battery from replenishing.
Faulty Charging Cable
The charging cable might be faulty and need to be replaced. Examine the charging cable for any exposed wires. If there are exposed wires, replace the charging cable with a different USB-C charger. If there is no visible damage to the charging cable, try plugging in a different device that uses a USB-C charger. If a different device receives power from the headphone charging cable, then the cable is functioning properly.
Debris in Charging Port
Over time, debris such as dust, lint, and dirt can make its way into the charging port and interfere with charging.
- Use a flashlight to examine the charging port for debris
- Use compressed air to gently blow debris out of the charging port
- If there is still visible debris in the charging port, use a small plastic or wooden tool to gently remove debris from the port
- Do not use a metal tool to clean the charging port, as metal can scratch or damage it
Damaged Charging Port
A damaged charging port is a common cause of the Sony WH-CH710N not charging, along with other devices. This often occurs from repeated cable insertion, debris buildup, moisture in the port, or accidental stress/damage to the port. To diagnose this issue, inspect the USB-C port with a flashlight for any bent pins, corrosion, or looseness.
If the port feels loose or shows visible corrosion, deformation, or damage, the internal solder points may have been damaged. If this is the case, the charging port may need to be replaced (Refer to the link below for a visual guide). If you are unsure about replacing a charging port, seek professional repair assistance.
