Sony Ericsson Xperia Active Troubleshooting

Also known as Sony Ericsson ST17i, Sony Ericsson ST17a. Released October 2011.

The phone will not turn on ¶ 

You have pressed the power button but the phone does not turn on.

Plug phone in to insure you have charge ¶ 

The battery may just not have enough charge. Make sure to plug in the phone with a known working cable to insure that the battery has enough charge.

Battery may be dead ¶ 

If you are using a known good charge cable, it’s possible that the battery is dead. You may need to replace the battery.

Faulty power button ¶ 

The power button may be broken, and need replacement.

Screen not turning on ¶ 

The screen may be dead. If you’ve tried all of the above, you may need to replace the screen.

Faulty Motherboard ¶ 

Motherboard is faulty. It will need replacement.

The screen is cracked ¶ 

There is one or more cracks in the glass of the screen.

Screen Replacement ¶ 

Your phone’s screen will need to be replaced.

The phone turns off unexpectedly ¶ 

The phone powers off suddenly and unexpectedly during use.

Plug phone in to ensure you have charge ¶ 

The battery may just not have enough charge. Make sure to plug in the phone with a known working cable to ensure that the battery has enough charge.

Battery may be dead ¶ 

If you are using a known functioning charge cable, it’s possible that the battery is dead. You may need to replace the battery.

Faulty power button ¶ 

The power button may be stuck, and need replacement.

Faulty screen cable ¶ 

The screen cable may be dislodged or is faulty. If it is firmly seated in the slot, then the cable may need replacement.

Faulty Motherboard ¶ 

Motherboard is faulty. It will need replacement.

When the user calls, the other side can’t hear the user’s voice clearly ¶ 

When making or receiving a phone call, your voice is too quiet for the other party to hear.

Microphone may be obstructed ¶ 

Insure that your microphone does not have obstructions. Clean the microphone hole off with a dry toothbrush or similar.

Microphone faulty ¶ 

If there are no obstructions, the microphone is likely faulty. Replace the microphone.

The user is unable to hear the other side clearly in a call ¶ 

When making or receiving a phone call, you cannot hear the other party very well.

Speaker may be obstructed ¶ 

Insure that your speaker does not have obstructions. Clean the speaker holes off with a dry toothbrush or similar.

Speaker faulty ¶ 

If there are no obstructions, the speaker is likely faulty. Replace the speaker.
