Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 3G Troubleshooting

The Samsung Galaxy Tablet 3 7.0 (3G) is from the third generation of the Samsung Galaxy android based tablets. It was announced on 24 June 2013 and launched in the US on 7 July 2013.

Random Rebooting ¶

Tablet reboots randomly, often interrupting usage by user.

Firmware/Malware Infections ¶

Turn off the tablet and press and hold the power and volume keys at the same time. This will take you to the recovery mode. Inside the recovery mode, press the wipe data factory reset. Resetting the device will set the device back to factory presets and eliminates any firmware/malware infections.

Hardware Issues ¶

The most common cause for random rebooting in hardware issues has to do with the motherboard. In order to replace the motherboard, follow our replacement guide.

Not Turning On ¶

No matter what is done to the tablet, the tablet will not turn on.

Charger malfunction ¶

Make sure the tablet is reacting to the charger to know that the tablet is charging. If the tablet does not show any signs of activation when the charger is attached, the charger is not working. If the charger is not working, try using a different charger, preferably one made by Samsung. A replacement charger can be found at a electronic store, such as Best Buy or Radio-shack. In addition, a cheap replacement charger can be found on Amazon here.

Battery disconnected ¶

If none of the solutions above work, open up the back of the tablet in between the white backing and the silver siding. Once the tablet is open, disconnect the battery cable. Allow the cable to stay unconnected for several seconds and then reconnect the cable. This is to make sure the battery is properly connected and holding the charge. For a step by step guide on how to disconnect the battery, visit our battery replacement guide here (in order to disconnect and reconnect the battery, you do not need to unscrew the screws).

Power Button Not Working ¶

If the power button is not turning on the tablet, start by plugging the tablet into the computer using the USB cable for one to two hours. This will charge the device and should prompt it to turn on. Unfortunately, if the power button does still not work it cannot be replaced because there are no replacement power buttons for sale.

Display Malfunction ¶

If the tablet is charged, but the display is not showing, there may be an issue with the display light. Make sure that the brightness is turned up so that the screen is visible. If the visibility is still an issue, the display needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, the display is irreparable because replacement displays are not sold individually.

Cracked Screen ¶

The tablet screen is shattered or cracked.

Screen Replacement ¶

For screen replacement, apply heat treatment to the screen (using a heat gun or a blow dryer) and then use a prying tool in between the front white screen and the silver siding to pop off the cracked screen. A step by step instructional video on how to replace the screen can be found here. Visit any online retailer or service center for a replacement screen that can be installed on the device after the cracked screen has been removed. A replacement screen from Amazon can be found here.

Not Charging ¶

The tablet is not charging, or it will not hold a charge.

For a step by step guide on how to disconnect the battery, visit our battery replacement guide here (in order to disconnect and reconnect the battery cable, you do not need to unscrew the screws).

Battery Died ¶

Like all batteries, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 3G's battery dies after several hundred charges. A replacement battery can be found on Amazon here. In order to replace the battery, follow our step by step guide here.

Tablet Not Producing Sound ¶

The tablet is not making any noise

Volume Not Turned Up ¶

Make sure that the volume is turned up by using the volume keys on the side of the device. If the volume is turned all the way down, then the volume will turn off.

Speaker or Headphone Malfunction ¶

Make sure your speaker or headphones are correctly connected to the device. They must be properly plugged in and have a solid connection to produce sound. If the speakers inside the device are not working, they can be replaced by following our speaker replacement guide.

Firmware/Malware Infections ¶

Turn off the tablet and press and hold the power and volume keys at the same time. This will take you to the recovery mode. Inside the recovery mode, press the wipe data factory reset. Resetting the device will set the device back to factory presets and will eliminate any firmware/malware infections.
