Roku 2 Troubleshooting

Media streaming device created by Roku in 2011.

No Picture ¶ 

I plugged my Roku 2 into the TV but no picture comes on.

No power ¶ 

Ensure the power cord is connected to the Roku 2 device. Then check the power cord is connected to an outlet.

TV input ¶ 

Ensure where the A/V cables are attached to the TV input in the rear of TV is the same as the selection on the TV input menu.

Check cables ¶ 

Check that the output plug is correctly connected to the Roku 2 output. Then check the input plug is correctly connected to the TV.

No internet ¶ 

Check for a proper WiFi signal by ensuring that the router is working correctly or a WiFi signal is being received by another device.

A/V port broken ¶ 

Unplug the Roku 2 device from power. Remove screws from the bottom of the device. Carefully open the device. Check for black burn marks and loose wiring around A/V ports. If A/V ports burned, then replace wiring and A/V port. If wires are found unattached or loose , tighten wiring.

No Sound ¶ 

I can't hear any sound from the TV while watching the shows.

Check TV sound ¶ 

Check the mute is not on. If the mute is not on, then check the sound options on your TV.

Check cables ¶ 

Ensure the A/V cables are firmly connected to the TV and the Roku 2 device. After checking connections check for fraying of any cables. If cables are frayed, replace them.

A/V port broken ¶ 

Unplug the power cord from the device. Remove the screws from the bottom of the device. Carefully open the device. Check for black burn marks and loose wiring around A/V ports. If A/V ports burned, then replace wiring and A/V port. If wires are found unattached or loose , tighten wiring.

Check internet ¶ 

Check for a proper WiFi signal by ensuring that the router is working correctly or a WiFi signal is being received by another device.

No Power ¶ 

My Roku 2 device won't turn on.

Check power cord ¶ 

Ensure the power cord is firmly plugged to the Roku 2 device and the wall outlet. If the device fails to turn on plug the device into a different outlet. After changing outlets and the device doesn't turn on check the power cord for fraying and replace the power cord.

The power port is damaged ¶ 

Unplug the device from power. Remove screws and open the Roku 2 device. Check for any black burn marks and loose wiring. If wires are loose or unattached then tighten wiring. If the power port is burned then replace the power port and wiring.

No internet ¶ 

My Roku 2 device won't connect to internet.

Check wireless router ¶ 

Ensure other devices can get a WiFi signal, if not then reboot the WiFi router.

Remote Not Working ¶ 

My remote doesn't work

An object is blocking the signal ¶ 

Remove any objects that are in front of the Roku 2 device blocking the signal.

Remote is too far away ¶ 

Move the remote closer to the Roku 2 device.

The remote batteries are low ¶ 

Replace the batteries to the remote.

I have Roku 2 & keep getting NO

SIGNAL. It's sporadic,at best. I've tried unplugging, soft & hard resets,cursing( lol ), all to no avail. It's maddening & frustrating to say the least. HELP!!!!

The light on the box comes on at different times of day- usually late at night & sometimes not for days. I'm at a loss. What's the life expectancy of Roku 2 ?
