Ring Floodlight Cam Video Appears Blurry
The Ring Floodlight Cam video footage appears blurry and is no longer clear.
The Lens Needs Cleaning
Accumulations such as dirt, condensation, pollen, spider-webs, dust, and more can be present on your Floodlight Cam. Please use a dry microfiber cloth and gently wipe down the lens thoroughly.
Protective Film Remains
Leaving the protective film remains on your Ring device can cause a hazy, murky, and fogged-up video. Ensure any protective plastic or films have been completely removed from your Floodlight Cam.
There are multiple ways to figure out if these remains are present on your device, most of which involve trying to find a small, faint edge around the lens. Some of these ways include:
- Checking if there are tiny air bubbles trapped under the surface
- Rubbing your finger along the edge of the lens to feel a tiny ledge
- Finding a tiny, clear, or colored tab (usually either blue or red) meant for pulling off the film
- Looking for a hole that is present in many protective films
If you believe the film has melted onto the lens, we recommend gently wiping the lens with a 50/50 mix of Isopropyl Alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and water.
Weak Wi-Fi Connection
A weak or unstable Wi-Fi connection can cause the video quality of the camera to worsen. Check the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) to make sure the Floodlight Cam is receiving a stable and efficient internet connection.
To do this, open the Ring app, select your device, and tap "Device Health". Then, under the "Network" section, look for Signal Strength to find the RSSI number. A value of -0 to -60 is considered good, while any value higher than -60 can indicate a weak connection.
