Touch screen does not respond to user interaction as expected.

Press the display lock key (See GUI Front View) just below the screen to lock the display. Press this button a second time. After the second press, a progress bar will appear below the lock icon on the display. When the progress bar has completed, the lock icon will unlock indicating that the touch screen has been reset.

If the touch screen response still does not respond as expected, the operator should provide an alternate source of ventilation to the patient to allow for power cycling the device. After the patient is safely transferred to another ventilation system, power the device off and back on using the power switch on the front of the device (See BDU Front View). If appropriate, the patient can be transferred back to the device. If the patient is going to be transferred back, press the “Same Patient” key on the display followed by “Start”.

Touch screen resets spontaneously, going blank for ~30 seconds before restarting.

The touch screen will sometimes reset spontaneously. When this happens, the display will go blank for approximately 30 seconds before restarting. The status display will show a countdown timer showing time till completion of the reset. This is not a malfunction. The reset occurs because system checks indicate that the display needs to reset to ensure proper functioning. During a reset, the device will remain operable and all alarms will still function, however these alarms will not be displayed on the screen until the reset has completed.

If the low tidal volume parameter is set incorrectly, start by opening the alarm page or selecting the hot link connected to the alarm. Inside the alarm page, a category option will be displayed with the same color as the alarm level indication. Inside this menu item the low tidal volume parameter value will be blinking. Tap on the parameter value and adjust the dial to the appropriate level. When the desired value is set press the accept button on the screen. To reset the color visual click on the reset button.

A Vent Inop alarm will occur when the device detects a critical error and will prevent all other operating states of the device.

Ventilator Inoperative Alarm Display State

When a critical or catastrophic error is detected, the device will enter the Vent Inop alarm state. When a Vent Inop alarm occurs the device will enter the Safety Valve Open (SVO) state. In this state the device will limit the pressure delivered to the patient, close the gas mixing PSOL valves, purge the gas mixing system accumulator, and open the safety valve. The screen will display a Vent Inop indicator and both a high priority alarm and a secondary (continuous tone) alarm will be activated. During this alarm, all detection and annunciation of patient data alarm conditions is suspended. The vent inop alarm cannot be reset with the alarm reset key. In order to exit the vent inop state, the device must be power cycled and successfully pass the automatically initiated Extended Self Test (EST).

The Safety Valve Open (SVO) state is an emergency state in which the patient can breathe room air unassisted (if able to do so). An SVO state does not mean the ventilator is in inoperative condition.

Safety Valve Open Alarm Display State

When the safety valve open alarm is active, the display will look like the image above. It will show time elapsed without ventilatory support, and it will not display patient data or detect patient circuit occlusion/disconnect conditions. If the condition causing SVO is resolved, the ventilator will clear the SVO alarm. If pressing the alarm reset key does not stop the alarm, the condition causing the SVO alarm can only be corrected by servicing the ventilator. In this case, it is either a software or hardware problem.

To fix either the software/hardware problem, the ventilator must be taken to be repaired.
