Olympus FE-210 Troubleshooting

Camera Won't Turn On ¶ 

No matter what you do, you can't get your camera to turn on.

Drained/Dead batteries ¶ 

The most likely problem is that your batteries are dead and need to be replaced. Replace with two AA batteries.

Battery Connections ¶ 

It is possible that the traces connecting the battery have become disconnected. Connections have to be checked and repaired.

Power Button Connection ¶ 

It is possible that the wires connecting the power button are disconnected. Connections need to be checked and repaired.

Motherboard Failure ¶ 

It is rare, but possible, that the motherboard has failed. The motherboard will have to be replaced.

Lens Won't Open/Close ¶ 

When turning the camera on, the lens does not extend, or when turning the camera off, the lens does not retract.

Low Battery ¶ 

The lens may not work properly with low batteries. Replace with two AA batteries and check again.

Lens Casing is Stuck ¶ 

If the lens will not extend or contract fully, the lens may need to be adjusted. Remove and re-seat lens.

Screen Won't turn on ¶ 

The camera turns on, but the screen stays dark.

Flash Doesn't Work ¶ 

When taking a photo, the flash does not discharge.

Flash Setting is Turned Off ¶ 

Check that the flash settings are turned on. To access the flash menu, press the Right Arrow button while in one of the "still-photo modes".

Low Battery ¶ 

The flash may not discharge if the batteries are too low. Replace with two AA batteries and check again.

Flash Bulb is Broken ¶ 

The bulb may be burned out. Replace the bulb and check again.

Video Output Won't Work ¶ 

When trying to output a video, the other device is not receiving the signal

Wrong Type of Output Cable ¶ 

Check to see what type of cable you are using. Click on this link to see a picture of the correct AV cable.

Ensure Correct Video Output Setting ¶ 

Depending on the territory your display is from, your output settings may need to change. Press the "Menu" button, and select the "Setup" option, scroll down to the last option on the second page, change to NTSC for United States and PAL for Europe.

Motherboard Failure ¶ 

The worst case scenario is the motherboard is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced. Replace the motherboard and check again.
