Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 Troubleshooting

Press the button on the USB receiver first. The lights on the receiver will pulse on and off. Use a paper clip or pen to push the reset button on the bottom of the mouse. The lights on the receiver will stop pulsing if connected. Replace the batteries if you can not get the connection.

This may be caused by hair or fur becoming trapped in the mouse wheel assembly. Perform steps 1-3 of the Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 and 5000 Disassembly guide and remove trapped hair.
