Device will not turn on ¶
You press the power button, yet nothing happens.
Low battery ¶
The battery level may be too low for the device to power on. Try charging the device.
Charger is broken ¶
Sometimes the cord becomes bent, which causes wires to break. Leaving the charger plugged in when not charging the device can also cause damage to the charger. Try using a different charger that is compatible with the device.
Battery is dead ¶
If the device does not turn on after charging, the battery may be completely dead. When a battery is completely discharged, it oftentimes cannot be recharged. In this case, the battery is dead and may need to be replaced.
Screen is broken ¶
Screen is either black upon start-up, unresponsive, or cracked.
Cracked screen ¶
Cracked screens look like lines in the shape of a spider web. These lines often look asymmetrical and are still apparent when the device is turned off. In this case, the screen will need to be replaced.
Black screen ¶
The device might not actually turn on because the battery is low. Try charging the device.
Screen responds slowly to touch ¶
It is possible that the screen is functional but responding slowly due to occupied RAM memory space. Try closing all applications that are not currently in use. In addition, the device can be powered down and turned back on to see if responsiveness of the screen returns.
Distorted audio/no audio ¶
When listening to music or watching a video, sound is absent or distorted.
Volume is not turned up ¶
Check to see if the volume is turned up to a reasonable level by using both the volume rocker on the side of the device and the digital volume bar in the settings menu.
Headphones are still plugged in ¶
Make sure there are no audio cords or headphones plugged into the audio jack. If something is plugged into the jack, remove it and listen for audio.
Software is not up-to-date ¶
Software that is not up-to-date can cause the device to have audio issues. Go to settings and make sure you have downloaded the most up-to-date software.
Rear speakers are broken ¶
If nothing else worked, it is very likely that the speakers may be broken. Running the speakers at maximum volume can cause them to wear out faster. In this case, the speakers will need to be replaced.
Volume rocker does not work ¶
Volume does not change when rocker on the side of device is pressed.
Volume rocker is misaligned ¶
A cracked or bent volume rocker may cause it to become misaligned. Try to remove and realign rocker. If rocker cannot be realigned, it may need to be replaced.
Reset device ¶
Sometimes devices fail to boot up properly. Try resetting the device and then changing the volume using the rocker.
Internal damage ¶
If no defects are visible to the rocker, internal damage may be present. In this case, the rocker will need to be replaced.
Camera does not work ¶
Black screen is displayed upon opening the camera feature.
Ensure that there are no obstructions in front of the camera. If there are obstructions, carefully remove them.
Clean lens ¶
There may be smudges or debris on the lens. Gently wipe the lens clean with a lint-free cloth.
Software issue ¶
It is possible that the software either loaded incorrectly or is not up-to-date. Make sure that your software is up-to-date. If updating and resetting the device does not work, the camera may need to be replaced.
