Assure that the phone is plugged into the charger, if this is the only way that the phone can power up, regardless of how long it is charged, then the battery needs to be replaced. This guide will show you how to do this guide.
Assure that the phone is fully connected to the charger, if the charging light is not turning on in the top left of the phone then the charger is faulty. You should consider buying a new charger.
Another reason why the phone might not power on is its inability to charge after the battery has died. Check the charging port to see if it has any give or wobble to make sure no loose connections are prohibiting the device from charging. If this is the case, then the charging port could have been disconnected from the motherboard and must be reconnected or it must be replaced.
Plug your phone fully into a charger, if the charging light on the top left is on then proceed to press and hold the circular power button/finger scanner on the back of the phone. If the phone still does not turn on then a faulty power button could be the issue. Consider replacing the power button. If the problem persists then consider phone replacement.
One possible cause of your phone not turning on could be a broken display. If there is sound or vibrations coming out of the phone when the power button is pressed, then the display is faulty and must be replaced. The display comes in two parts, the digitizer and the screen, and they must be replaced as one.
When talking on the phone the calls either cannot be heard at all or sound muffled.
Look at the ear speaker at the top of the phone and see if it looks dirty or corroded. If the ear speaker cover does look dirty it may need to be replaced. The replacement of the cover is shown in this guide.
If problems hearing phone calls persists after replacing the ear piece cover the ear speaker needs to be replaced. This guide will take you through the steps of replacing the phones ear speaker.
When using the rear camera, the focus capability does not work or a notification continues to pop up with the warning “Camera Failed” whenever the camera application is opened.
If the images are appearing blurry when using the rear camera, there could be a scratch on the glass protecting the lense. First, inspect the glass covering for scratches or cracks. If a scratch or crack is found, the glass covering needs to be replaced.
If there appears to be no scratches or cracks on the camera cover then the camera stabilizer is to blame and the camera needs to be replaced. This guide will show you how to replace the rear facing camera.
A notification with the warning “Warning: Camera Failed” shows up whenever the camera application is accessed. The camera could be failing because there is corrupted data in the camera cache. To clear the cache, open Setting > Application Manager > Camera > Storage > Clear Data or Clear Cache. If clearing the camera cache did not solve the problem, there could be corrupted data on the phone outside the realm covered by the camera. To clear all cached data, open Settings > General > Storage > Cached Data, and press “Yes” to confirm clearing the cache. The last step to take if clearing the camera and phone cached data did not solve the remove the failed camera warning is restore the phone to factory settings. IMPORTANT: Back up the phone and its contents onto a computer or external hard drive before continuing. Perform a factory reset by going to Settings > General > Backup & Reset > Factory Data Reset. Set phone back up to user’s preference.
When using the front camera the focus capability does not work or is visibly blurry whenever the camera application is opened.
If there is a crack in the screen and it visibly interferes with the front facing camera, consider a screen replacement to fix the issue.
If the front facing camera is not focusing properly or not functioning, then the camera module connected to the motherboard may be damaged. Consider a replacement using this guide.
The device is not broadcasting audio properly (distortion, echoing, static, crackling, or cut out audio) either through the speakers or the headphone jack.
If there are no sound or distorted sound (echoing, static) coming out of the speaker, it may be a software issue. IMPORTANT: Back up the phone and its contents onto a computer or external hard drive before continuing. Perform a factory reset for a possible fix. If audio problems are still consistent throughout all aspects of the device (all applications, all sounds, etc.) then it may be a hardware issue and should be replaced. This guide will show you how to to do this replacement.
If you experience crackling or audio cutouts when an audio peripheral is connected via the headphone jack, then there may be dust wedged between the gold contacts that connect the jack to the phone itself or the headphone jack itself is loose. Consider a replacement of the headphone jack.
When the phone’s volume button is pressed there is no response from the phone or the button appears to be broken.
Connect remote volume adjustable headphones securely to the phone and play music or a video through on the phone. If the volume can be adjusted by the remote then the volume button then the button need to be replaced. If headphones with a remote volume adjuster are not available you can use regular headphones or play the music or video through the speaker. Then try adjusting the volume on the screen if the player has an on-screen volume adjustment option. If the volume changes then the button needs to be replaced. This guide will show you how to to do this replacement.
If problem persists after replacing the volume buttons then there could be damaged connectors from the motherboard to the volume buttons. Consider replacing the phone.
Phone screen will not respond to any input from buttons or fingers and stays frozen or unresponsive lengths of time that are not common with a smartphone device.
To unfreeze the phone, just restart the phone for a temporary fix. There may be too much data on the phone for the operating system to process commands causing the screen to freeze. To fix, simply check if there are any apps taking up an excessive amount of room (+3GB) by going to Settings > General > Memory > Memory Used by Apps. Uninstall and reinstall the app to delete any unneeded data. Also, erase any cached data (e.g. saved files from scrolling through social media posts) to free up space. To do this go to Settings > General > Storage & USB > Cached Data.Settings > General > Memory > Memory Used by Apps.
Code from downloads on the internet and apps may have corrupted the phone’s original operating software. To fix this, first restart the phone to unfreeze the screen. IMPORTANT: Back up the phone and its contents onto a computer or external hard drive before continuing. Perform a factory reset by going to Settings > General > Backup & Reset > Factory Data Reset. Set phone back up to user’s preference.
