The device is failing to charge
The device will not charge.
Defective charging port
Try moving the charger to one of the other USB-C ports on the device to see if the charging light comes on. If the device powers on, you know you have an issue with the port that failed to charge the device, but if these steps do not help continue to step two.
Faulty charging adapter
Try using a different power cable, because the one you are using with the device could be faulty. Also, be sure that the cable and power supply is rated for the devices’ needs, we recommend using the charger that came with the device. If this solves your problem, the charger may be defective, or the charger was not rated for use with this device.
Weak Battery Life
A fully charged battery lasts less than 10 hours.
Check Power Settings
If you experience weak battery life on your device, you can try to close applications and look through the task manager to close any processes working in the background. This is done by clicking the windows logo with two fingers (right-clicking) and selecting “task manager”. Also, be sure to click the battery icon in the bottom right hand of the screen and make sure that the performance is set to the best battery life. If none of these tips solve your battery life issue, then you may need to replace the battery.
Speaker or Audio Issues
The sound from your laptop is noticeably flawed/not working.
Software Fixes for Audio Output
In “Settings” under “System” select “Sound”. Under “Output” make sure that the selected speaker is the laptop's default speaker. Here you can check all other settings that would affect the speaker's output such as volume. Back in the “Sound” section you can also select “Volume mixer” under the “Advanced” tab and reset all sound settings to recommended defaults by selecting “Reset”. Under the same tab, there is an option to troubleshoot output devices which will inspect your current sound drivers to make sure it isn't a software issue. Follow any recommendations for updates it may give you.
Blown or Defective Speaker
If the sound coming from your laptop is weak, raspy, or rattling this is a clear indication that your speaker is blown.
Fan Noise
When the computer is running, it can sound a loud or subtle clicking, buzzing, or grinding that is hard to overlook.
Vent Obstruction
Visually inspect air vents and fan areas for obstruction. Simply blowing out these areas with clean air can fix the problem
Faulty/Worn out Fan
If the fan and air vents are free from any obstruction and noises persist this could indicate the need for a new fan.
Unplug any cables powering the computer, remove the slide to the housing, and access the fan/cooler. You will see the screws holding the fan in place, remove those screws to extract the fan and replace it with a new one. Put the screws back in and put the housing back on.
The Device Will Not boot Up
The computer will not power on or show any signs of responding, or the computer tries to boot or sign in and fails or crashes.
Software or Operating System Issues
If you can get to the windows login screen you can try to put the computer in Troubleshooting mode. This can be done multiple ways but the easiest is to continually hold the "shift" key, click the power icon in the lower right-hand corner and click restart, still holding the shift key, allow the computer to restart. The computer should then give you a couple of options, click "Troubleshoot", then "Advanced options", and finally click "Startup Repair" and the computer will reboot and apply any fixes applicable. If this works there may be an issue with the Windows 10/11 Operating system or malware on the computer. This could be solved by running antivirus software or re-installing the windows operating system.
Hardware
To troubleshoot hardware issues be sure your device is charged or plugged in. Then you can try pressing the power button to turn on the device and repeatedly press the "esc" key, if done successfully, the laptop will display the "startup Menu", then press the "F2" key for system diagnostics. The HP PC hardware diagnostics page should appear, click "Components Test", and select "run" on the following pages. This test should fix or list problems with any problems with hardware components.
