Computer starts but screen remains black

Resetting the computer can resolve many issues that cause a blank screen. Use the steps in HP support

To test the display, attach an external monitor by using HDMI, VGA or DVI and restart the computer. Testing with an external display is helpful if the notebook display is black but you can hear sounds; such as fans, spinning drives, or beep tones that indicate the computer is operating.

Restart the computer or let its battery to run out. Check afterwards if the problem has been solved

Cannot connect to the internet or connection periodically drops

Right click the wifi connection icon in the notification area then press Troubleshoot problems. The automatic troubleshooting process will begin. Once the process is complete, information should pop up telling you the necessary steps to resolve the problem.

If these solutions don’t work, you may have a problem with your router or modem. Turn off your HP, then turn off your router and/or modem. Wait 30 seconds then turn your router/ modem back on along with your HP. Try to reconnect to the wifi. If this does not work, then there may be some issues with your service provider.
