HP Elite Dragonfly Chromebook Battery Not Charging
The HP Elite Dragonfly Chromebook will not charge when plugged into power.
Frozen Screen
Too many extensions, limited storage, or an OS glitch could cause the screen to freeze and be completely unresponsive to input.
Try these solutions,
* Wait 30-60 seconds. Heavy tasks could cause the freeze.
- Remove external devices. Reconnect them back to see which one might be causing the problem.
* Force a shutdown. Hold the power button for 10 seconds, then press it again to restart it.
Defective USB Port(s)
The laptop has 2 USB-C ports. One on each side. These ports let the Chromebook connect to external devices and charge. If either port becomes damaged in any way, the Chromebook may have difficulty charging or recognizing accessories.
If you identify any of those problems, you could solve them with these steps.
- Plug the charger into one port; if it doesn't work, try the other port.
- Check the inside of each USB-C port for dust, debris, or visible damage to the connector.
- Try to adjust the cable to see if you can find a connection. If you find a working angle, the cable may need to be removed and replaced.
Faulty Power Supply
Chromebooks rely on an external USB-C adapter to charge their battery. If the adapter is broken, incompatible with the Chromebook, or simply doesn't produce enough power, the charger itself will be unable to provide sufficient charge to power the Chromebook on.
- Make sure the power supply works on similar devices that use the same power supply to confirm the charger is working. Low wattage may also be a problem, so make sure to check the power supply has the required wattage for the device.
- Inspect the power supply itself and the cords to ensure that there isn't any exposed wiring or any frayed wires.
Battery Failure
Lithium-ion batteries deteriorate over time, especially when used frequently for a prolonged period of time. If you've noticed that the battery has been decreasing, or if the laptop refuses to turn on at all, the battery is not functional anymore and is preventing your laptop from powering on and needs to be repalced.
