HP Chromebook 11 G7 EE Keyboard Unresponsive
When you start typing on your keyboard and nothing is happening or the key gets stuck in one spot it could lead to many things to either a temporary software/input glitch or a hardware issue affecting the keyboard connection. Follow these causes to see if you have a minor system freeze or physical damage or even internal failure.
Keyboard hardware failure
Individual keys or the entire keyboard can fail due to wear. Try and find an external USB keyboard to connect to the Chromebook, if the external works fine then the problem lies within the keyboards internal ware likely deeming it faulty. If so then replacing the keyboard assembly is the most common occurrence fix.
Debris or Liquid damage under keys
Any dust, crumbs, or spills can physically block keys or short the keyboard circuity. Closely inspect keys for sticking or uneven movement, the reason for this is because if you feel either of these things there is definitely something trapped under the key. Turn off the device and gently clean with compressed air. If there was a spill of any type of liquid power the device off immediately and let it completely dry before testing anything, typically wait 48 hours. If there is still issues with the keys after the device has dried that most likely infers there is permanent damage as Chromebooks are very sensitive to liquid.
Motherboard/input controller issue
If the controller responsible for handling keyboard input fails, the system won't detect any keyboard activity. How to address this situation with no response even in recovery mode suggests deeper hardware issues. External keyboards would also not work depending on the type of failure the motherboard is experiencing. The best solution to this is repairing/replacing the entire motherboard.
