First Steps

  • Factory reset the device by holding down the gear button and minus button at the same time until you feel the controller vibrate.
  • Disconnect any Bluetooth devices that it could be paired to
  • Power the controller off and on
  • Before re-pairing your controller unsure that your device has no controller remapping software running or Steam Controller testing software.
  • Pair your controller and test to see if the issue has been resolved

Outdated or Corrupted Firmware

Recent firmware updates have targeted the issue of random inputs. Installing the latest update and recalibrating could solve the issue.

  • Download the most recent firmware from this link for the "KK3Max" https://www.gulikit.com/Download
  • Follow the instructions for the specific firmware from the manufacturer's website below the download from the provided link.
  • With the updated firmware, power on the controller normally and calibrate the joysticks.

Dirty, Sticking, or Damaged Control

A single button that double-clicks, remains pressed, or only fails after being physically touched may have debris, moisture damage, or a worn internal contact.

  • Power off the controller and inspect the issue button for sticky residue, shortened travel, cracks, or other damage.
  • Detach back paddles and install them one at a time, doing brief gameplay or testing with each to identify which paddle is causing the inputs
  • Clean the outside with a dry microfiber cloth or soft brush, without introducing any liquid to remove residue. If there is a sticky portion that does not come off, a small isopropyl alcohol wipe can be used.

Wired input or USB connection issues

A common issue occurs only during wired use; you won't see the same issues via Bluetooth connection commonly found while using Steam Deck docks, Steam Link, hubs, or Linux systems

  • Test with the included USB cable or a known quality cable and plug it directly into the host device, not through any sort of extension, hub, or dock
  • Check that the controller is in the correct mode, and that the computer recognizes the device as a gaming controller.
  • Keep the controller fully charged and ensure there is no unintended Bluetooth pairing at the same time that its connected through a wired connection
  • Test on a different device; if the issues are not present, then this points to a software issue rather than a controller issue.

Controller Hardware Failure

If controller tests still record false inputs after inspection and cleaning of the device, factory reset, calibration, and updated firmware, then the controller likely has a hardware failure.

  • Contact Guilkit support via this link, https://www.gulikit.com/glzc, noting the firmware version, controller mode, connected device, and when the issue arises.
  • Guilkit devices are sold with a 1 year warranty and will provide a replacement during this time
  • If the device was bought through a 3rd party, reach out to the seller with the same criteria.
