My speaker will not turn on when connected to a power source
My speaker is plugged in, but it will not turn on.
Incorrect connection to the wall socket
Make sure your speaker is plugged into a functioning wall socket.
Check the connections between the speaker and the adapter to verify it is plugged in correctly.
If you are using a surge protector, check that it is functioning correctly.
Faulty adapter/charger
If the speaker does not turn on, the problem might be a faulty adapter. In this case, you will need to buy a new one.
Be sure to use the adapter supplied with your speaker at the time of purchase, as another adapter may not be compatible.
The speaker will not turn on when using the battery
The battery is charged, but my speaker still will not turn on.
Speaker settings are affected
If your speaker has not been charged or used in the last 14 days, it enters protection mode. To fix this setting, you must plug the speaker into a wall socket.
Dead battery / charging problem
If the battery is faulty, you may eventually need to replace it. Click this link to see how to replace the battery: Bose SoundLink Mini Battery Replacement.
Another underlying issue may be charging. Make sure your battery is sufficiently charged by plugging it back into a wall socket.
The speaker indicates a connection, but there is no music
The Bluetooth indicator shows a connection, but music does not play when I start a song.
Issues with device connection / audio playback
Although the SoundLink Mini indicates a connection with your device, the device might not be paired yet. Check the Bluetooth settings on your device to ensure it is paired with the SoundLink Mini.
Devices have transport controls that allow for audio playback. If these controls are not set to audio playback, sound will not be transmitted to the SoundLink Mini.
If you have other devices currently using Bluetooth, turn them off, along with the speaker and the device you are trying to pair. Once everything is off, turn only the speaker and the device back on in order to start pairing.
Issues with speaker settings
It is also possible that the volume on the SoundLink Mini is too low or even muted. Adjust the volume to see if that was the source of the problem.
If the volume on the speaker is at an audible level, also check the volume on your device.
No sound on the Bluetooth device
My speaker is not playing music from my device.
SoundLink Mini settings / connection problem
Make sure that the sound on the SoundLink Mini is not muted and that the volume is at the chosen level. You can also verify that the SoundLink Mini indicates a connection with the chosen device.
The device you are using also displays a connection; ensure that the device you are using for the SoundLink Mini is connected via Bluetooth and is playing music at an adequate sound level.
Another issue may be that your device is out of range of the Bluetooth signal; in this case, bring it within range of the SoundLink Mini so that it works.
As a last resort, turn the SoundLink Mini off and turn it back on.
Interference from external devices
Sometimes other devices cause electromagnetic waves that can interrupt the Bluetooth signal. Move these devices away from the SoundLink Mini and your device so that they can connect correctly. These external devices can include (but are not limited to): microwave ovens, cordless phones, network routers, and other Bluetooth devices.
If there are other external devices that use Bluetooth, be sure to turn them off or disable Bluetooth.
The speaker cannot be paired with the Bluetooth device
I cannot pair my Bluetooth device with this speaker.
Unable to connect to a device
Make sure that the latest software is installed on your SoundLink Mini speaker. At https://www.bose.com/support.html, you will find the most recent updates. If the software is already up to date, it may be necessary to perform a product reset. This only requires a few simple steps:
Press and hold the "mute" button on your speaker for 10 seconds; the LEDs will start flashing for a few seconds.
Then press the power button to turn the SoundLink Mini back on.
The device has issues with the connection
Many Bluetooth devices have an option to disable the Bluetooth function, for example to save battery. Make sure that the Bluetooth function is actually enabled. If the speaker is paired with the Bluetooth device, it should connect automatically if the Bluetooth function is enabled. If the Bose product does not reconnect automatically, manually select the Bose product from the Bluetooth list on the device.
Some devices pair with a unit but do not connect automatically. Check the pairing list on the device. If it is there, try to connect it to the SoundLink Mini.
Too many devices on the pairing list
If that did not help, you may need to clear your pairing list by following these simple steps:
On the speaker, press and hold the Bluetooth button for about 10 seconds until a sound is heard. The speaker will erase all Bluetooth devices from its memory and will be able to be detected again.
Clear the list on your Bluetooth device. You will find more information on the manufacturer's support page for your device.
Otherwise, try the following steps to attempt to pair the device again:
With both the Bluetooth device and the speaker turned on, press and hold the Bluetooth button on the speaker for three seconds so that the speaker can be detected. The Bluetooth indicator will turn on and off slowly to indicate that the speaker is ready to be detected.
On your device, locate the Bluetooth device list and choose "Bose SoundLink".
If your device asks for a code, enter the numbers 0000 and press OK. Some devices will also ask you to accept the connection. Your Bluetooth device will indicate when pairing is complete. When pairing of the SoundLink Mini is complete, the Bluetooth indicator will stop turning on and off and will remain on.
The distance between the device and the speaker
The system is designed to work within a radius of approximately 30 feet (9 m). When there are obstacles such as walls or metal, performance may be diminished. It can also be affected by other Bluetooth devices. Try moving the SoundLink Mini closer to your Bluetooth device.
