Dell Inspiron Mini 1210 Won’t Boot Up ¶ 

The Inspiron Mini 1210 won’t turn on.

Faulty Power Outlet ¶ 

  • Verify the laptop is completely charged. You can do this by plugging the laptop into a power outlet. If the problem persists, then you must change to a different power outlet.

Operating System Error ¶ 

  • If the issue persists after changing power outlets, then it may be a problem with your hard drive or operating system. You can check this by running the 32bit diagnostic. If the diagnostic test passes, you will then reinstall the operating system. You will reinstall the operating system using the CD that came with the Dell Inspiron Mini 1210. You will place the CD inside the external driver, then reboot the laptop. Once it begins to boot, you will press F12 to finalize the installment.

Faulty Battery ¶ 

  • Verify that the adapter cord (AC) can charge the battery. You can verify this by changing out the AC. If the problem persists, then the system is probably not recognizing your battery. (see battery replacement guide Dell Inspiron Mini 1210 Battery Replacement)

Hard Reset ¶ 

  • This is the final resort. You will unplug the AC adapter from the power outlet. Next you will need to take out the battery and all extra external peripherals (such as printers, headphones, USBs, etc.). Finally, you will hold the power button for at least 30 seconds. After you hold the power, you will then plug the AC adapter back into the power outlet and power on the Dell Inspiron Mini 1210. You will place the battery back after two to three hours. You may need to attempt this process several times.

Dell Inspiron Mini 1210 Webcam Won’t Work ¶ 

The Inspiron Mini 1210 ’s webcam does not work.

Uninstall & reinstall the webcam drivers ¶ 

  • First verify that your Dell Inspiron Mini 1210 contains the drivers necessary for the webcam. After you verify the drivers, then you will need to uninstall the webcam’s drivers. You will restart the laptop after uninstalling the webcam driver. Once your Dell Inspiron Mini 1210 boots up, you will sign into your Dell account. Once you are signed in to your Dell account, you will select the newest version for the Dell Webcam Central drivers. Finally you will download, install, and restart your laptop. Dell Inspiron Mini 1210 battery Won’t Charge ¶ 

The Inspiron Mini 1210 ’s AC does not charge the battery.

Faulty power outlet ¶ 

  • Verify that the AC adapter is completely plugged into a power outlet. Next, verify that the power outlet works. You can do this by plugging the AC adapter into a power outlet. If the problem persists, then you must precede to the next troubleshooting option.

  • You will unplug the AC adapter from the power outlet. Next you will need to take out the battery and all extra external peripherals (such as printers, headphones, USBs, etc.). After disconnecting all extra external peripherals, you will swipe down the battery censors. Finally, you will hold down the power button for at least 30 seconds. After you hold down the power button, you will plug the AC adapter back into the power outlet. Power on the Dell Inspiron Mini 1210. You will place the battery back after two to three hours. You may need to attempt this process several times.

BIOS Out of Date ¶ 

  • First, go to http://www.dell.com/support/drivers and manually select the product you are using. Once you find the product, you will click on the “BIOS category” button. Next, download the file, and save the file to your laptop or drive. Once downloaded, you must install the new update by double-clicking on the file. After downloading the new BIOS, you will restart the Dell Inspiron Mini 1210. Once the Dell Inspiron Mini 1210 begins to boot up, you will press the "F2" key. A window will appear. You can navigate through this window with your keys to the “advanced” tab. Once there, check if the charger behavior is enabled. Once you enable the charger behavior, you will restart your computer.

Dell Inspiron Mini 1210 Keeps Freezing ¶ 

The Inspiron Mini 1210 freezes.

Laptop is Overheating ¶ 

  • First, check that the vents are not blocked by objects or dusk. If objects or dusk are blocking the vents, then you must unplug all external peripherals and manually wipe the dust (or move the objects) away. Finally, you will restart your Dell Inspiron Mini 1210.

Run Virus & Malware Programs ¶ 

  • First verify the existence of a virus or malware, by running a software program like McAfree or Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool (MMSRT). You can register for a free trial of McAfree. You can download the MMSRT by going to Microsoft homepage and by following the instructions: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download.... You can also enable the Microsoft security features and install the latest anti-malware, anti-worm and anti-virus programs on Microsoft’s homepage.

Update BIOS & Drivers ¶ 

  • First you must go to http://www.dell.com/support/drivers and manually select the product you are using. Once you find the product, you will click on the driver you need. Next, download the file, and save the file to your laptop or drive. Once downloaded, you must install the new update by double clicking on the file. After downloading the newest BIOS or driver, you will restart the computer. You must individually update each driver at a time. This process may take several hours.

Reset your Windows Operating System ¶ 

  • First, you will navigate to the settings menu. Once there, select the “Update & security” option. Next, you will click the recovery button and then “Get started” button to reset your Dell Inspiron Mini 1210. Once the process begins, you can either click the option to “Remove everything” or “Keep my files.” You will remove everything, and click continue until the system prompts you to reset. Click the reset button. Windows may take several minutes to an hour to reset. Once Windows resets, you will click continue to finish.

Reinstalling the Operating System ¶ 

  • This is the final resort. If the problem persists, you must uninstall and then reinstall the newest version of Windows to the Dell Inspiron Mini 1210. First, you must download the media creation tool on either a flash drive or DVD (with at least 4 GB of space). Next you must burn Windows onto the flash drive or DVD. Next, you will uninstall your Windows OS. You will insert the flash drive or DVD, then select the option to “Remove everything.” After uninstalling Windows, you will boot up the Dell Inspiron Mini 1210 from either the USB or the DVD. Next, select the correct once the system begins to boot up. Next, an activation screen will appear. You must select the “I don’t have a product key” option. This will prompt Windows to automatically activate and install onto the Dell Inspiron Mini 1210. Continue through the process, and select the “custom” installation. Once installed, Microsoft will automatically activate. This process can take several hours and attempts. This process will destroy your data and information. The Inspiron Mini 1210 displays as a blank/black screen.
