Commodore 64 Troubleshooting
Common problems and solutions for the Commodore 64 personal computer.
Commodore 64 won't turn on ¶
Your device will not power on as it is supposed to.
RAM issues ¶
A computer memory problem is preventing proper boot-up
Bad Power Adapter ¶
Power adapter and/or cords are no longer functional
Loose connection or port ¶
Power adapter may not be plugged in all the way, or the power adapter socket may be loose. Check to make sure the power adapter is plugged all the way in the socket and that there is no movement from the power socket.
Screen and/or audio do not work ¶
There is some issue with your computer screen (visual output) or the sound (audio output) from your device
Incorrect or broken adapter ¶
The wrong adapter cable is being used or your current cable is not functioning properly. Make sure you are using the proper cables with their matching utilities. For instance, the audio cable must be plugged into the audio ports and speakers for the sound to work.
Incorrect AV configuration ¶
Cables fit in inputs, but maybe in the wrong inputs for proper use.
No power ¶
Output devices are not receiving any power.
Other Issues ¶
Input/Output ports are not functioning or are not matched properly to their respective plug-ins (incorrect input or output cords or cables)
