Autel Robotics Evo Nano Plus Gimbal is Stuck
The Autel Robotics Evo Nano+ gimbal does not respond and gets stuck during operation. This page offers some common solutions to this issue!
Sediment Build-Up is Obstructing the Gimbal's Range of Motion
Over time, dirt and debris can build up on the drone's chassis and gimbal housing. Use a cotton swab dipped in high-concentration isopropyl alcohol to gently brush the outside of the gimbal housing. This should help clean the housing, reducing friction and allowing the gimbal to move freely.
Gimbal Cover Needs to be Removed
Like many digital cameras, the drone comes with a gimbal cover to protect its fragile moving parts. If you do not remove the gimbal cover before attempting to operate the drone, the gimbal will not be allowed to move. Remove the gimbal cover before flight operations.
The plastic gimbal cover has tabs that secure the cover to the body of the drone. Gently grip and pull the cover away from the drone, pulling from the side of the cover that is nearest the rear of the drone.
Gimbal's ND Filter is Obstructing Gimbal Movement
If updating the firmware and removing the gimbal cover do not free the gimbal's movement, try removing the ND filter (only if applicable). The ND filter allows you to adjust how much light enters the drone camera, and the extra lens thickness may hinder the gimbal movement.
The Autel Robotics Evo Nano+ ND filters are plastic filters that snap onto the camera via pressure tabs. Simply lift from the bottom of the ND filter to pop it free.
Gimbal Needs to be Calibrated
The gimbal can lose its finely-tuned calibration during transportation or impact during flight operations. To calibrate the gimbal, place the drone on a level surface. Open up the Evo Nano+ flight app on your smartphone, then follow the on-screen instructions for gimbal calibration.
Drone Camera Firmware is Out of Date
Autel pushes out routine firmware updates, and it's important to download these updates to prevent known issues and bugs. Visit the Autel Robotics Evo Nano+ product page; you can find new firmware updates under "DOWNLOAD."
Firmware updates are available via the Autel Sky app for mobile devices. Scan the QR code on the "DOWNLOAD" page to download the app to your mobile device, and follow the on-screen prompts to set up the drone and update to the latest firmware. The firmware update can take up to 15 minutes (if you have multiple removable batteries, the firmware update needs to be applied to each removable battery individually).
The Autel Sky app is compatible with the EVO Nano, EVO Nano+, EVO Lite, and EVO Lite+ drones.
Autel Robotics Evo Nano Plus Gimbal is Permanently Damaged
If the camera gimbal no longer functions after a significant impact, it's likely that the gimbal has been permanently damaged. In this case, it's highly unlikely that simply clearing obstructions or updating the firmware will solve the problem. Fortunately, the gimbal mount can be replaced.
Follow the step-by-step guide [here] to replace the damaged camera gimbal.
