Asus ROG Azoth 75 Has Unresponsive Keys

Specific individual keys or all keys on the keyboard fail to register keypresses when typed on the computer. This input failure persists regardless of whether the keyboard is connected via USB wired mode, 2.4GHz wireless dongle, or Bluetooth.

Asus ROG Azoth 75 Has Unresponsive Keys

If the Asus ROG Azoth 75 isn’t registering some or all keys on the board when pressed. It doesn’t seem to be a connection issue, as these problems may occur when in any connection mode.

Connection Mode

If the keyboard's physical mode switch does not match the connection method, the computer will not register key inputs.

Locate the 3-position mode switch on the back of the keyboard and align it with the setup:

  • Wired Mode: Set switch to the Center. Connect using the USB-C cable.
  • Wireless Mode (2.4GHz): Set switch to the Right. Ensure the USB wireless dongle is plugged into the PC.
  • Bluetooth Mode: Set switch to the Left. Ensure the keyboard is paired to the target device in system settings.

USB-C Cable or USB Port

A damaged cable or faulty port can disrupt communication between the keyboard and PC.

  • Unplug the USB-C cable and reconnect it firmly.
  • Try plugging into a different USB port directly on the motherboard/PC (avoid unpowered USB hubs).
  • Test using the original braided cable included with the ROG Azoth, or try a known working USB-C data cable.

Wireless Connection or Pairing

Interference or dropped pairing can cause missing or delayed key inputs.

  • If using 2.4GHz Wireless: Ensure the USB receiver is securely inserted. Move the receiver closer using the included USB extender if there is signal interference.
  • If using Bluetooth: Open the device's Bluetooth settings, remove/forget the ROG Azoth, and re-pair it.
  • Isolation Test: Switch to USB Wired Mode. If the keys work perfectly when wired, the issue is isolated to wireless pairing or signal interference.

Computer or Software Issue

Sometimes the keyboard is functioning correctly, but a specific program or system setting is blocking input.

  • Test in a Basic Text Editor: Open a standard text app (e.g., Notepad) and test typing.
    • If keys work in Notepad but fail in a specific game/app, check that application's in-game keybindings or overlay settings.
  • Test on Another Device: Connect the keyboard to a second PC or laptop. If it works there, check the keyboard/language settings on the primary co

Outdated Keyboard Software

Outdated firmware can cause keys to stop responding.

Connect the keyboard using USB Wired Mode and open Armoury Crate.

Check for available firmware updates and follow the on screen instructions

Important: Do not disconnect or power off the keyboard during a firmware update

verify key assignment under device settings to ensure affected keys haven't been disabled, set to macros, or remapped incorrectly.

Key(s) and Key Switch

If only specific individual keys are failing, the issue is likely a faulty switch, bent pin, or trapped dirt.

  1. Disconnect Power: Unplug the keyboard and turn off power.
  2. Remove Keycaps & Switches: Use the included keycap puller and switch puller to safely remove the affected keycap and switch.
  3. Clean the Socket: Inspect for dust, debris, or liquid residue. Clean gently using compressed air or a soft brush.
  4. Inspect Switch Pins: Check the metal pins on the bottom of the switch. If a pin is bent, carefully straighten it with tweezers, or replace it with one of the extra switches included with the ROG Azoth.
  5. Reinstall: Reinsert the switch firmly into the socket until it clicks into place, then retest.
  6. See the [Link: ASUS ROG Azoth Key Switch Replacement Guide] for instructions on removing and installing hot-swappable switches.

Keyboard Circuit Board

If keypresses still do not register across multiple switches after completing all above steps, the internal Printed Circuit Board (PCB) or hot-swap sockets may be damaged due to liquid exposure, physical impact, or electrical shorts.

  • Disconnect all power before inspecting any internal hardware.
  • Look for visible signs of corrosion, burn marks, or broken hot-swap sockets on the PCB.
  • Recommendation: If PCB damage is present, individual components or the board itself may need replacement. Avoid powering on a damaged circuit board and seek professional repair or warranty replacement options.
  • See the [Link: ASUS ROG Azoth Motherboard Replacement Guide] for full PCB replacement steps.

Damaged Housing

Heavy physical impact or dropped objects can crack the top aluminum frame or misalign the internal silicone gasket mount, preventing key switches from seating correctly or causing physical obstruction.

Inspect the outer frame and plate for bends, cracks, or structural damage that may exert uneven pressure on the switches or circuit board.

  • See the [Link: ASUS ROG Azoth Case Replacement Guide] for instructions on disassembling and replacing the keyboard frame and housing.
