Asus K53E-BBR7 Troubleshooting

Device Fails to Power On ¶
Your device is unresponsive when the power button is pressed.
Power Adapter is Faulty ¶
Ensure that the power adapter is connected to a working power outlet. When the adapter is plugged in, the light on the power adapter should turn on. If the light on the power adapter fails to turn on when it is plugged in, your adapter is malfunctioning. Consider purchasing a new power adapter.
Battery is Unable to Charge ¶
Check to make sure that your power adapter is connected to your laptop, and the light on the adapter is on. Disconnect the power adapter from your laptop. If the laptop fails to turn on when the power adapter is disconnected from your laptop, then your battery is not functioning. Consider replacing the battery.
Keyboard is Unresponsive ¶
The keys on your keyboard fail to respond when pressed, or they are missing from the keyboard.
Keys are Jammed ¶
If a key on your keyboard fails to respond when you press it, there may be something stuck beneath the key. Remove the key from your keyboard to see if there is anything lodged beneath the key. Clean the area diligently before putting the key back in its place.
Keyboard is Faulty ¶
Test multiple keys on your keyboard to see if any of them are functioning. If the keys on your keyboard fail to respond, your keyboard may be faulty. Consider replacing the keyboard using this guide.
Device Fails to Charge When Plugged in ¶
Your device fails to charge when the adaptor is connected to the device.
Charging Cable is Broken ¶
When the power adapter is connected to your device, ensure that the light on the power adapter is on. If the light on the power adapter is not on, test multiple power adapters to see if the issue persists. If the light fails to turn on consider replacing the charging cable for the device.
Charging Port is Faulty ¶
When the power adapter is connected to your device, ensure that the light on the power adapter is on. If the light on the power adapter is on, test multiple power adapters to see if the issue persists. If your laptop still fails to charge when it is connected to the power adapter, there may be an issue with the charging port on your device. Consider replacing the charging port.
Battery is Dead ¶
If your charging port is fully functioning, and your adapter is fully functioning, you may have a defective battery. Consider replacing your battery.
Screen Freezes on Laptop ¶
Your laptop screen freezes on one page or goes black.
Outdated Video Driver ¶
If your laptop freezes while you are using it, you may have an outdated video driver. Reinstall your video driver by searching "Asus K53E." Select "Asus K53E Notebook" and then click on the "Support" tab. Click on "Driver & Tools" and select the appropriate Windows Operating System. Reinstall your VGA driver.
Hard Drive is Faulty ¶
If your computer continues to freeze, you may have an issue with your hard drive. Consider replacing your hard drive.
Inadequate Amount of Thermal Paste ¶
If your computer continues to freeze you, you may have an issue with the thermal paste within the device. Consider reapplying an adequate amount of thermal paste to the CPU to prevent overheating that can lead to diminished processing performance.
Volume is Inaudible ¶
Sound is unable to be heard when you are using your headphones or speakers.
Audio Jack is Loose ¶
Check the volume using the volume icon at the bottom right hand side of your screen to ensure that your laptop is not on mute. If the volume is not muted, check to make sure that your headphones are connected to your device. If you are unable to hear sound through your headphones test another pair. If both pairs fail to play sound, your audio jack may have become loose due to excessive use. Make sure that your audio jack is fully connected to your device.
Driver Needs to be Reinstalled ¶
If you are unable to hear audio through your speakers and headphones, there may be an issue with your audio driver. Reinstall your audio driver by searching Asus K53E. Click "Asus K53E Notebook," then click the "Support" tab. Click "Drivers & Tools" and select your operating system from the dropdown menu. Select and download your audio driver. Go to Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Sound Controllers. Update your driver by selecting your sound card and clicking "Update Driver." Select the driver you have downloaded and then restart your computer.
Speakers are Faulty ¶
Connect your headphones to your laptop. If sound can be heard through the speakers of your headphones, disconnect your headphones from the laptop. If sound is inaudible when you are playing audio through your speakers, then your speakers are faulty. Consider replacing your laptop speakers.
Disc Drive Fails to Read Disc ¶
The disc drive does not recognize a disc when it is inserted.
Disc Drive is Unclean ¶
Make sure that your disc is unscratched and clean. Insert the clean disc in the disc drive. If the disc is still unable to be read, insert another working disc. If the disc is still unable to be read, dust may have accumulated in the disc drive. Use a compressed air duster to eliminate dust from the disc drive before reinserting your disc.
Disc Drive is Faulty ¶
If your disc drive fails to recognize a disc after the disc drive has been cleaned, your disc drive may be faulty. Consider replacing your optical drive using this guide.
Laptop Overheats ¶
Your computer shuts off randomly while you are using it.
Dust in Fan ¶
Dust can accumulate in the fan, immobilizing the fan and causing the computer to overheat. If this occurs, use a compressed air duster to remove dust from the fan.
Not Enough Thermal Paste ¶
If the device continues to overheat the thermal paste applied to the fan may need to be reapplied. Consider opening the device and reapplying to the fan.
