Faulty Operating System
Sometimes, an automatic update can cause display problems, like a flicker. An update in software can fix a flickering screen. Make sure the OS is up to date; If it isn’t, connect to the internet, click the time in the bottom-right corner, then click Settings. In Settings, click About ChromeOS, then click Check for Updates. Use this guide to update if needed.
Hardware Reset Needed
Resetting the Chromebook’s hardware can potentially fix problems software fixes couldn’t. (Warning: it could remove files from the download folder) First, power off the device by holding the power button for 4 seconds, then press and hold the Refresh + Power button to power it on. If needed, use Asus’s guide on how to do so.
Damaged Display Cables
Loose or damaged display cables in the hinges can cause a flickering screen. Gently adjust the screen until you notice a flicker. If there is no flicker while adjusting the screen, the problem is likely bugged or faulty software.
