I added another layer of adhesive as the ones with most are a bit more thin, also seating the glass a bit less flush. Now the button works. 3 hours later.
Agreed. Bit of heat to break that adhesive and the rest is not too bad.
Pop out the volume rocker.
Heat the same side breaking down the adhesive bond.
Take a plastic spudger and insert above the volume flex cable (while screen is kept on a flat surface) and pull the back case up gently. One or two clips surrounding the volume control will pop up.
Run your spudger firmly through the gap around the phone. "Pop", more clips release. Make your way around the top and bottom corner of this side.
