Answer to: Replacement of glass and/or touchscreen digitizermbrady, that is not correct. The glass is actually not entirely glued to the screen. it is simply glued along the perimeter only. The glass digitizer has a layer of clear plastic sheet in its outermost layer that is directly above the LCD screen. The trick is to gently poke the glass digitzer at the edges. As you do so, you will notice the glass digitizer creating an air space between it and the screen. If you are able to carefully tear in only one section, preferably the corner of the clear plastic sheet, then you can create a handle, which you can pinch-hold to peel off the glass digitizer. Incidentally, if your glass digitizer is cracked in to umpteen glued fragmented, it actually makes it easy to peel off the rest of the glass digitizer cleanly. This is an instruction prepped from experience, I did it exactly that way. Now if only HTC would have a clear opening for the glass digitizer interface cable so that i can insert it through to connect it to the logicboard. The reset is cakewalk. Good luck.
Answer to: My iMacs display turns off or whont turn on :(I have an iMac 24 from mid 2008. The system run OK this morning. then in the middle of running an application, the LCD screen went compeltely dark. but the computer is still on and running the application because it chimes during key sequence input. I am sure it will play iTunes if I run it too. I turned it off and then reset the SMC and turned it back on. It chimed during power up and i can hear the thrashing of hard disk and Superdrive which shows the posting and bootup are working. But it took 15 minute for the display to come back on. I left it on and idle overnight. Then this morning i ran some applications. The same problem recurred. The cause of this being a video card is unlikely. Video card problems generally are more severe and will cause the system to crash, display distortions, lines, etc. But it is possilbe it is the video card. More likely, this is an LCD screen issue, and possibly issue with the backlight. The latter seems to lose power sunddently, possibly due to some shorting. But the backlig...
Answer to: Digitizer is unresponsive after being submerged in water. You may want to start by removing the existing glasss and digitizer assembly first, inspect the connectors thoroughly as well as the connectors on the ipod logicboard. if possible, use a clean and dry tooth brush to first brushing it dry. If it still looks dirty, then clean it with isobutyl alchol. Then brush the surfact one more time, making sure that the connector surface is very nice and shiny. Wait for it to dry thoroughly before reconnecting because alchol does have a large water content. Reconnect and try it again. if that does not work, then buy a replacement digitizer plus glass from ebay and install that one in. That should elimnate any posibility that the logic board digitier control module may be defective. Do check iFixit for instructions on how to remove your existing digitizer. If is fairly straight forward.
Answer to: Need to replace keyboard..The keyboard replacement for the macbook 13 white unibody is a tricky one. the keyboard is burried underneath a framed rectangular plate, which seems glued to the plastic bottom surface. once your remove the logic board, the hard drive, the screen from the bottom assembly, you are left with a black frame that runs edge to edge, which covers 1/2 of the total space infront of the battery compartment. This plate, it appears, is glued to the plastic body underneath along the edges at scattered points. i tried to pry it. but it is tough. One way to remove it , and I am very apprehensive about this method, might be to apply a gentle heat gun at the glued points to loosen the grip of the glue. but one must be most careful because one can end up warping the plastic body and do more harm than good. Update: i finally removed the framed rectangular black plate and the keyboard. As I suspected, the black plate was glued along the perimeter all the way. So, the gluing was thorough and not along certain points as I suspect...
