Answer to: Replaced Dock and now microphone no longer workingHad the exact same thing happen to the wife's 4. After the screen cracked I had it replaced by a local repair guy (who was great...just hadn't stumbled into this issue yet). Once repaired, turns out the symptoms you describe appeared. After a month of speakerphone, I decided she had had enough. So I ripped into it fully expecting to destroy it and replace it with something. Anyway, while reverse engineering the previous repair, I noted that the rubber boot that allows for the proper mic placement had a tiny piece of adhesive cellophane (that I'm sure was supposed to be removed upon install) that had become lodged firmly inside the mic area. It was very small, and almost impossible to see: but there it was. Tweezed that out and voila. Worked like a charm. I was keyed into something funny because the mic (lower mic of course) would capture any "sound" (i.e. vibration) that was't directed into the mic: hitting it, blowing into hard, etc. Anyway, I know you said you checked for debris perhaps it's worth another l...
