That may be your case. I have to say that these particles may never get out from that tiny space. Why don't you try what had worked for me several times: Kindly suck/blow the earphone sealing it with your lips and with the pressure of a VERY GENTLE kiss... you love you earphones, right? :). Do it two or three times and test in you ear if the distortion is gone. You may hear cracking noises during the process (because there is an extra back and forth movement on a plastic membrane inside). This solution may work for days, even weeks and sometimes forever.
