I'm Evan and I work at iFixit. Here, I'm a teardown engineer—I help out with teardowns, teach people how to fix things, and document the heck out of every device we get our hands on.
I'm also a fourth year Computer Science student at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
I've been interested in photography for a few years. My first camera was a Canon Rebel XS that I use to this day. I've shot for my high school yearbook, Cal Poly, and done some freelance work as well. Check out some of my photos:

Answer to: How many cycles does this computer's replacement battery have? All of our batteries have a one year warranty. @microfix6 can get in touch with us and we will happily replace it. Regarding the quality of the battery, I've seen a number of factory-original batteries expand into the trackpad. There's even been reports of batteries expanding in brand new iPhone 8 models. Aftermarket batteries can be lower quality than OEM parts, but they are not inherently worse. You just got unlucky. Either way, give us a call or shoot us an email. We'll take care of you :)

Answer to: Water spill but still working - send for evaluation?Even if your laptop is working right now, corrosion will most likely progress overtime until the laptop isn't functional. I'd recommend taking it to a professional repairperson with tools to repair water damage (i.e. an ultrasonic cleaner) and have them give it a once over. Since everything is working correctly right now, they probably won't need to replace any components and this will just be preventative maintainence—and it will most likely cost a lot less than £250.
Answer to: One propeller does not spin.Did you crash recently? The drive shaft in these quadcopters breaks fairly easily. If you find that the motor does not spin freely by hand, you'll need to replace either the whole motor arm, or just the motor itself. Replacing just the motor is more time consuming, but you'll be able to find parts for a lower price. B&H sells both motor arms and individual motors. When purchasing replacement parts, be sure to triple check whether you need clockwise or counterclockwise motors, as using the wrong ones will prevent your drone from flying.

Answer to: Home button plunger is not working after screen replacementIt sounds like you either over- tightened the screws on the home button bracket, or they may be some debris stuck on the home button gasket preventing the button from moving freely.
Answer to: Why does my screen no longer recognize touch? Can I fix this? This is a common problem with iPhone 6 Plus's—we recently wrote a story about it. The issue is that the Touch IC is failing, and the only permanent solution is to replace it with a new chip. There are currently a few repair shops throughout the U.S. that will perform this repair, but since Apple refuses to claim responsibility for this design defect your options are: a) Take it to a microsoldering specialist b) become a microsoldering specialist or c) buy a new phone. None of these solutions are ideal, and we hope that the manufacturer will extend their warranty period or offer compensation for folks like you, but for now you're stuck between a rock and a hard place. Keep us posted on your repair story and best of luck!
