Answer to: upgrading upper case from a1226 to a1260 MacBook Pro 05/02/2012
the keyboard and trackpad firmware is located in the top case... so the a1226 keyboard would act as a a1260 keyboard, so all the function keys would be messed up... other than that it should work fine... the american settings could be set in the system preferences afaik...
