Answer to: How to add one or two SSDs without interfering with fan issuesSo I was at the local Apple Store and asked a "Genius" about putting in an SSD in addition to the HDD in my 2010 iMac. She bluntly told me that was unauthorized if it didn't come from Apple when shipped. I told I knew Apple didn't do the retro-fit/upgrade but where would I add the second drive if I did it myself. Again, she sternly and rudely said it can't be done and claimed the iMacs without a factory-installed SSD are built to a different configuration and don't have space for a second drive. I told her this made zero sense because Apple is not going to close up the space as a design alternative. When she sarcastically said "You must know more about the iMac than me," I walked out. So, where does one insert a second drive (SSD) in an iMac that didn't come installed at the factory? I know if requires a special bracket, but surely there is ample space inside.
