I know I am like a year late but to anyone having this issue: You need to download the latest version of Luma3DS and extract it to the root of your sd card. Make sure the boot.firm is on the root. Replace any files if it asks to.

It is possible that the fans aren't working properly. Make sure no fans are blocked and if possible take a compressed air canister and use it on the fans, or just use a vacuum cleaner.

As well as what @tomchai said, if restarting the Shell Experience Host does not fix the issue, try restarting File Explorer. You can do this by: (1) Opening Task Manager (Crtl + Shift + Esc) (2) Either Scroll Down or open File Explorer and click on it. Your vents might need cleaning. You can use a Compressed Air Canister, or just a simple vacuum. That fixed close to the same issue on one of my Xbox 360s.

Here is something from the manual you can follow: (1) Set the power switch to <2>. (2) Remove the battery. (3) Take off the battery holder. (4) Replace the battery. (5) Insert the battery holder. Hi @lprince, Try doing this to see if you get a picture: (1) Hold the Volume Down and Menu buttons (2) While holding them, press the Power button then release the Power button only (3) Wait five seconds then release of the Volume Down and Menu buttons (4) Wait for approximately 30 seconds Do you get a picture?
