Web design, development + iPhone & iPad repair
Eek - No! Do not attempt this! You risk damaging the pins on the battery connector or breaking something on the motherboard.
I tried this on two iPad Pro's and bent the battery connector. This is the wrong way to do it!
Instead the best way to do it is to remove the motherboard. It's not that much more work or time.
I came here to warn you all. Save yourselves, people!!! :p
But seriously, this could be very bad. It *might* work but why take this risk? Bending the motherboard is never a good option. And trying to get the battery connector underneath the mobo but on top of the pin is frustrating and requires expert level dexterity. Just spend a little extra time and take off the motherboard.
Another option… heat it up a bit and then apply gentle pressure from the front of the button. Start with one “corner” and work your way around.
Mine came out like very smoothly with this process.
