I checked with batteries plus and they wanted $70 just for the battery. I was VERY doubtful that ifixit was going to sell me a battery AND the prying tool for 15 but I figured what the !&&* and ordered it anyway. I was fully expecting to find only the tools.
In less than 15 minutes I had the new battery in and managed not to break anything. KUDOS to ifixit.
I would like a warning on the instruction NOT to pull the bottom off the top because I did pull the battery connector from the bottom part when taking the ipod apart. and the prying tool does not fit under the battery retention clip. but... now I'm just being picky.
Thank you to everyone there for restoring a little of faith in the free enterprise system. proving that you don't have to gauge people in order to make an honest buck.
IFIXIT will be my first stop from now on.
