Introduction
Modern dryers have digital displays which convey error messages when parts fail or something is simply not right. Older dryers may not have digital displays and instead use a series of LEDs to signal that a component isn't working correctly. Diagnose your code below.
First Steps
Before undertaking any of the more time consuming solutions below, these are a few fundamentals to get you started.
- Make sure there is power at the wall outlet.
- Check if a household fuse is blown or if a circuit breaker tripped
- Check that the dryer vent is properly installed and clear of lint or obstructions.
- Check all connections before replacing components. Look for broken or loose wires, failed terminals, or wires not pressed into connectors far enough.
- A potential cause of a control not functioning is corrosion on connections. Observe connections and check for continuity with an ohmmeter.
- Connectors: Look at the top of the connector. Check for broken or loose wires. Check for wires not pressed into the connector far enough to engage metal barbs.
- Resistance checks must be made with dryer unplugged or power disconnected.
