Background
Announced May 12th, 2026 via press release alongside the ThinkPad X13 Gen 7 and L16 Gen 3, the seventh generation L14 is Lenovo's mainstream 14-inch budget business laptop. It replaces the L14 Gen 6. It comes in Intel and AMD versions that share the same chassis, ports, and display options.
The Intel L14 Gen 7 uses Intel Core Ultra Series 3 (Panther Lake) processors, from the Core Ultra 5 325 up to the Core Ultra 7 365 and 356H, with integrated Intel graphics. The AMD version uses Ryzen AI 400 series processors, from the Ryzen AI 5 430 up to the Ryzen AI 7 PRO 450, with Radeon 840M or 860M graphics. Both take up to 64 GB of DDR5-5600 memory in two SO-DIMM slots and one M.2 2280 SSD. Displays are all 14-inch WUXGA IPS panels, with touch or 500 nit options. Lenovo lists the battery and keyboard as customer-replaceable. Other options include a 5 MP camera with IR, 4G LTE, NFC, and a smart card reader, and the top cover is aluminum or plastic depending on the model.
Lenovo said both versions would be available starting May 2026, starting at $1,439 USD. AMD models reached stores in Australia, Asia, and parts of Europe in June 2026, and Intel models followed in August 2026, including in North America, where the cheapest configuration was listed at $1,559 USD. The L14 Gen 7 comes in Eclipse Black.
Identification
Like other ThinkPad products, the L14 Gen 7 is readily identifiable by the make and model number printed on the bottom cover, in order to aid in finding compatible parts and repair procedures. The same information is available in Windows under Lenovo Vantage, or in the BIOS setup under Main.
