  2. Mr. Coffee DW13 Teardown, Taking off the Heater: step 2, image 1 of 1

  3. Mr. Coffee DW13 Teardown, Power: step 3, image 1 of 1
    • The red arrows represent the path of the electricity.

    • The electricity travels from the power cord to the switch where they both connect. When the switched is turned on the power goes from the switch to 2 places.

    • The 1st place it goes is to a giant resistor under the metal pipe that transports the water. This resistor is the pot heater and water heater.

    • The 2nd place the power goes is to a temperature regulator, which makes sure the temperature of the water and the pot don't go above a certain point.

  4. Mr. Coffee DW13 Teardown, How It Works: step 4, image 1 of 1
    • The way the coffee drip works is water travels through the rubber tubes through a metal pipe getting heated.

    • The water can't travel upward so it gets stuck around the temperature regulator where it boils. Once boiled the steam pushes the remaining water left up the tube into the coffee pot.

    • This process repeats over and over again until the switch closing the circuit opens up again
