Introduction

We are going to teach you how to take apart and put back together a Cannon Powershot N.

This teardown is not a repair guide. To repair your Canon PowerShot N, use our service manual.

  1. Locate battery housing cover.
    • Locate battery housing cover.

  2. Place finger on the textured portion of battery housing cover and slide cover in the direction indicated.

  3. Find beige tab and push it away from the battery.
    • Find beige tab and push it away from the battery.

  4. Remove battery from battery slot with fingers. Remove battery from battery slot with fingers.
    • Remove battery from battery slot with fingers.

  5. Using a PH000 size screwdriver, unscrew four screws beneath screen.
    • Using a PH000 size screwdriver, unscrew four screws beneath screen.

  6. Remove 2 screws on the bottom of the camera.
    • Remove 2 screws on the bottom of the camera.

  7. Remove 2 screws from the side of the camera with the on and off buttons.
    • Remove 2 screws from the side of the camera with the on and off buttons.

  9. Remove the back plate.
    • Remove the back plate.

  10. Locate 2 screws on “on/off” side of the camera and unscrew them.
    • Locate 2 screws on “on/off” side of the camera and unscrew them.

  11. Locate 2 screws on the other side of the camera and remove them.
    • Locate 2 screws on the other side of the camera and remove them.

  12. Remove one screw from the bottom of the camera.
    • Remove one screw from the bottom of the camera.

  13. Remove front plate from motherboard so that one ribbon cable is exposed.
    • Remove front plate from motherboard so that one ribbon cable is exposed.

  14. Locate the second ribbon cable.
    • Locate the second ribbon cable.

  15. Using plastic spudger, push tab to release the ribbon cable. Using plastic spudger, push tab to release the ribbon cable.
    • Using plastic spudger, push tab to release the ribbon cable.

  16. Locate screw under released ribbon cable and remove it.
    • Locate screw under released ribbon cable and remove it.

  17. With the camera lens facing you, remove 4 screws around the lens. With the camera lens facing you, remove 4 screws around the lens. With the camera lens facing you, remove 4 screws around the lens.
    • With the camera lens facing you, remove 4 screws around the lens.

  18. Flip over and remove 1 screw from side with playback/phone options .
    • Flip over and remove 1 screw from side with playback/phone options .

  19. Unscrew 2 screws from top, bottom, and both sides of screen. Unscrew 2 screws from top, bottom, and both sides of screen. Unscrew 2 screws from top, bottom, and both sides of screen.
    • Unscrew 2 screws from top, bottom, and both sides of screen.

    • Pull off white cap which edges the screen.

  20. Remove white metal plate behind screen (tip: try not to bend). Remove white metal plate behind screen (tip: try not to bend).

  21. Push out LCD screen. Push out LCD screen.
    • Push out LCD screen.
