Why do I see a pending iFixit charge if my order didn't go through?
If you see a pending charge from iFixit after a declined payment or an incomplete order, it is likely an authorization hold initiated by your bank, card issuer, or payment service such as PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Klarna.
iFixit cannot release or remove these holds, as they are managed entirely by your payment provider, but they usually disappear automatically. Learn more here: Authorization hold
What is happening:
When you try to place an order with a bank card or a service like PayPal, Apple Pay, Google, or Klarna, your bank or payment provider may place a temporary hold for the amount before the transaction is finalized. If the payment does not go through or the order fails, this hold is not converted into a charge.
How long it lasts:
Authorization holds are temporary and usually disappear automatically within about 7 business days. This may vary depending on the policies of your bank, card issuer, or payment service.
What you need to do:
No action is required on your part; these holds will disappear on their own. If the pending charge has not disappeared after 7 business days, or if you want to know why the funds were held, please contact your bank, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google, Klarna, or your other payment service directly.
