How to Use FixBot

Visit FixBot at https://fixbot.ifixit.com/

Start a new chat. Click the New Chat button (plus icon) in the top header.

Browse past chats. Open the sidebar on the left. Chats are grouped by Today, Yesterday, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, and Older. Scroll to load more.

Rename a chat. Hover the chat in the sidebar, click the … menu, choose Rename, type a new name, and press Enter to save (or Esc to cancel).

Delete a chat. Hover the chat in the sidebar, click the … menu, choose Delete Chat, and confirm.

Share a chat. Click the share icon in the chat header, then Create Public Link. FixBot generates a shareable URL. Click Copy to copy it. Anyone with the link can read the chat. To make your chat private again, open the share menu again and click Make Private.

Send a message. Type in the input bar at the bottom and press Enter or click the up-arrow button. Use Shift+Enter for a new line. (On mobile, you must tap the send button.)

Retry a response. If a reply errors out typically due to a transient network error, use the Retry button on the error banner.

Attach an image or PDF. Click the + button at the bottom-left of the input bar and pick a file. You can also drag and drop files onto the chat, or paste an image from your clipboard.

Take a photo (mobile). On mobile, the + button opens a menu with Take Picture and Upload Files. If you are unable to access your camera or take a photo, check your application's camera permissions.

Supported formats. JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC/HEIF (auto-converted), and PDF.

Remove an attachment. Click the × on the preview before sending.

Pick a device. Click Select Your Device at the bottom-left of the input bar. Search or browse and pick the device you're working on. FixBot uses this to tailor guides and answers.

Change or clear the device. The selected device shows as a thumbnail and name. Click the × next to it to clear, or click the device to pick a different one.

Copy a message. Scroll to the end of FixBot's message and click the copy icon. The full text goes to your clipboard.

Give feedback. Scroll to the end of FixBot's message and click 👍 or 👎. A box appears for an optional comment.

Talk to FixBot. Click the waveform icon at the bottom-right of the input bar to start voice mode.

Open your account menu. Click your avatar at the bottom of the sidebar. From there you can:

• My Profile — open your iFixit account.
• Usage — see your limits for the day.
• Upgrade / Manage Subscription — change your plan.
• Log Out — sign out.
