How to Share Your iPhone Analytics File
Share your iPhone’s latest analytics data with the iFixit app. We’ll read the file to pull the battery’s capacity, cycle count, and a few other statistics to estimate the battery’s health.
How to Share Your iPhone Analytics File (Battery Health)
iOS devices don’t automatically share battery health information with the iFixit app. If your Battery Health screen shows "Unknown" or asks for more information, you can export a small system analytics file from your iPhone and share it with the iFixit app. We use that file to read your battery’s original capacity, current capacity and cycle count so we can give you an accurate battery health estimate.
Who should follow this guide
- iOS users who opened the Battery Health section of the iFixit app and saw a message that their battery data is "Unknown" or that additional information is needed.
What we need from you
- A recent iPhone analytics file. It will be named something like:
Analytics-YYYY-MM-DD-...
- You do not need to email or upload the file anywhere. Use the iOS Share menu to send the file directly to the iFixit app on your device.
Before you start
- Make sure Share iPhone & Watch Analytics is enabled:
- Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements → toggle ON Share iPhone & Watch Analytics
- Wait at least 24 hours after enabling analytics so your iPhone has time to generate a fresh analytics file.
- You can toggle Share iPhone & Watch Analytics off again once you have the file.
Step-by-step: Export and share the analytics file
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap Privacy & Security.
- Tap Analytics & Improvements.
- Tap Analytics Data.
- Look for the most recent entry that begins with
Analytics-YYYY-MM-DD. - Tap that
Analytics-YYYY-MM-DDentry to open it. - Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow).
- From the share sheet, choose iFixit.
- Confirm the share in the iFixit app when prompted.
Tip: you can save the analytics file to the Files app first and share from Files.
What happens after you share
- The iFixit app will read the analytics file and extract these key battery values:
- Original battery capacity (mAh)
- Current battery capacity (mAh)
- Cycle count (how many full charge cycles the battery has experienced)
- If the app finds the values it needs, you will see a confirmation message and your Battery Health screen will update automatically with improved estimates.
- If the app can’t find battery information in the file, it will show a message explaining that the file did not contain the expected details. Try another recent analytics file (if available) or use the troubleshooting steps below.
Troubleshooting
- I don’t see Analytics Data in Settings
- Make sure “Share iPhone & Watch Analytics” is enabled and that your phone has been used for at least 24 hours since enabling it. Analytics files are generated by the system after some device activity.
- iFixit didn’t accept the file
- Try sharing a different Analytics file if multiple dates are listed. Choose the most recent date.
- Try saving the analytics file to the Files app, then open that file from Files and use the Share option to send it to iFixit.
- I can’t find iFixit in the share sheet
- Scroll the share sheet to the right and tap More to enable iFixit in the app list, or look for iFixit under the "Apps" row.
- The app still says Unknown after sharing
- Wait a few moments and make sure you tapped Confirm/OK in any modal that appeared after sharing. If it still doesn’t update, try closing and reopening the iFixit app and check again.
- My device is Android
- Android phones do not have a comparable analytics file that contains battery information and is accessible to apps. The Android system does provide some battery details to applications, but support varies by device.
Privacy & security
- You are sharing a single analytics file directly from your iPhone to the iFixit app on your device via the iOS Share sheet.
- iFixit reads only the specific battery-related values needed to estimate battery health (capacity and cycle data). The app uses that information locally to compute your battery health estimate.
- If you prefer, you can view the analytics file’s contents on your phone before sharing; it is a plain-text system file.
What to expect after we get your file
- Your Battery Health screen will show:
- Maximum capacity percent
- Cycle count
- An updated estimate of remaining battery life and a predicted replacement window
- If the file doesn’t include the required battery fields, we’ll ask you to try another file or use the app’s manual entry option.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will sharing this file affect my phone in any way?
A: No. You are only exporting a copy of a system analytics file and sharing it with the iFixit app for local processing on your device.
Q: Can I see what values the app read from the file?
A: Yes. After a successful share, the Battery Health screen will display the capacity and cycle values the app used.
Q: How often do I need to do this?
A: Whenever you want to refresh your battery stats. After a valid analytics file is parsed, the app will use that data until you reset it or share a newer analytics file.
