Introduction

The battery is the power source for the Roomba 4160. It is a yellow plastic Roomba APS (Advanced Power System) that has a series of small batteries wired together inside. Each time the Roomba is used and recharged, the battery loses a very small amount of internal capacity, and over time, the battery can no longer hold a full charge. In addition, other battery problems, such as a leaky battery or the shorting out and breaking of electrical connections inside the battery, limit the Roomba's operation. This guide will show how to find and replace the Roomba 4160 Battery.

Make sure the Roomba is turned off to avoid an electric shock.
  • Make sure the Roomba is turned off to avoid an electric shock.

  • Turn the Roomba upside down, and place it so that the underside is exposed. The wheels and brushes should be visible.

  • Do not attempt to open up the yellow battery pack. You may get shocked or burned by the battery acid.
