Introduction

If your iMac G4 17 800 MHz EMC 1936 is in need of a RAM upgrade or it has failed in some way, follow this guide to replace the RAM.

Be sure to turn off your computer and unplug it prior to beginning your repair.

  1. Unplug all the cables from the computer, including the power cable. Lay the computer face-down, supporting the neck and base with a soft cloth under the screen.

  2. Loosen the four Phillips #0 screws.
    • Loosen the four Phillips #0 screws.

  3. Carefully remove the base access panel.
    • Carefully remove the base access panel.

  4. Remove the RAM from the slot. Remove the RAM from the slot.
    • Remove the RAM from the slot.

Conclusion

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
