Introduction
Renault Zoe no heat
Car shows double dashes '--' instead of outside temperature.
Heat pump not running. No heat only fan.
Solved by replacing outside temperature sensor.
Background info
When this happens, the climate control does not activate, and the air source heat pump (AC compressor) does not start, leaving the Zoe without heating.
I took the car to a Renault workshop. They said that the issue was caused by humidity in the cables, and wanted approximately 1000 euro to replace the sensor and cables.
My car is usually parked outdoors and this problem started during fall when it was wet.
Leaving the car in a warm garage for a few days resolved the issue, so it seems like a humidity problem.
After some reading online this seems to be a fairly common issue with similar Renault cars (Clio and others).
I ordered a sensor from Amazon, although it was not specified as for Zoe.

What you need

Adjust mirror max left and down to create a gap at the top

Carefully pry out the mirror with a screwdriver near the round center

Disconnect mirror heating cable

Push on the plastic latch, circled in red, to release the bottom part where the sensor is mounted
