Wire Stripping

What you need

  1. Wire Stripping, Wire Stripping: step 1, image 1 of 1
    • Match your gauge of wire to the gauge on a wire stripper.

    • Some wire strippers will have two gauge sizes for the same hole, one for solid wire and one for stranded. Make sure you use the right one for the wire you are stripping!

  2. Wire Stripping: step 2, image 1 of 1
    • Place the wire stripper about a 1/4” from the end of the wire and squeeze down.

    • You can strip more than 1/4" at a time, but the effort becomes harder. About 1/2-5/8" (13-16 mm) is the most you should probably attempt.

  3. Wire Stripping: step 3, image 1 of 1
    • While squeezing, pull the stripper toward the end of the wire. This should expose some of the wire by removing its insulation.

Conclusion

After your wire has been stripped, the exposed wire is ready to be soldered and reconnected to other parts of the microphone.
