During prolonged or heavy use, a snap can come off your clothing or gear and get lost. Not to worry – a worn-out or defective snap on a garment, tent, backpack or sleeping bag can easily be replaced. Replacement snaps often come with the product in a small bag. If you don’t have a replacement snap, you can pick one up in a fabric supplies store – they come in several shapes and sizes and fit almost anywhere. Here we’ll show you an example of how you can replace a snap on a pair of trousers.
In our example, the snap stud is missing. The snap post can be removed with the pliers.
Lay out the two pieces for the lower flap.
Place the stud component on the lower flap where the previous stud was positioned and hold it there with a plastic snap holder if necessary. Rivet the two parts together with a few strong blows of the hammer.
Lay out the other two pieces for the top flap.
Place the post part of the snap on the top flap where the previous post was positioned and attach it with a plastic holder if necessary. Rivet the two parts together with a few strong blows of the hammer.
