Introduction

Replacing the keyboard will require some prying, but it does not take too many steps. It may feel as if you are going to break the plastic piece, but rest assured that the plastic piece above the keyboard is meant to "pop-off". Note that the last step in this guide is not necessary to remove the keyboard, but IS necessary if you later would like to disconnect the display piece from the rest of laptop.

Parts

No parts required.

To start, open the laptop so the display screen is bent fully back with the display facing upward, parallel to the surface you are working on. Using a Phillips #00 (flat-head) screwdriver (or wedge prying tool) above the F1 key, separate the plastic from the body of the laptop. Don't worry about breaking it! You will need to forcefully wedge the screwdriver under the plastic, simultaneously pushing upward and forward. Once you have popped this section up, work on pulling the rest of this plastic piece up, working from left to right. Just using your hands to pull upward on the plastic will work.
