Toshiba Qosmio X775-3DV80 Optical Drive Replacement

Introduction

The following instruction guide will be helpful in performing removal of the Toshiba Qosmio X775-3DV80 optical drive. The optical drive enables the computer to use DVDs, CDs, and Blu-ray discs. You may need to replace the optical drive if the computer is not sensing or failing to read discs. Further, the need for replacement may be necessitated if there is a problem in ejecting the discs. Before performing any replacement action, ensure the power is plugged off and the computer battery is removed.

Step 1 Battery

Turn your laptop over so the underside is facing up.

Identify the two sliding locks on either side of the battery.
Simultaneously slide both locks outward to release the battery.

Pull the battery straight out of its slot to remove it.

Locate the optical drive retaining screw on the underside of the laptop.

Using a Phillips #00 screwdriver, remove the optical drive retaining screw.

Step 6

Using your finger or a spudger, push the optical drive out of its compartment so you can grab it.
Pull the optical drive out of its slot in the side of the laptop.
