Introduction
The dryer will not advance the knob in regular or delicate dry mode, only in timed dry mode. This indicates the timer motor is working properly but is not being activated in the normal cycles (where it is usually activated by the thermal cycling switch). (See schematic below).

All I did to make this machine start working again was clean out all the lint. Likely what happened is that the exhaust flow was restricted, so the high-limit switch was being tripped (at drum inlet) but couldn't heat the clothes enough to dry them or trip the cycling thermostat switch (at drum outlet).
